In theory, a company should be intrinsically motivated to create a gender-diverse board of directors. More diversity means more ideas, competing views, and new perspectives. In practice, it’s a different story. New research appearing in the journal Organizational Science finds that firms can pay a steep price for their efforts to increase board diversity.
