Students playing the Cups Game in a manufacturing course
Cornell ORIE students play the Cups Game to learn about lean manufacturing, October 2008. The Cups Game is a feature of the Design of Manufacturing Course, taught then by Professors Peter Jackson and Jack Muckstadt. The game is a simple exercise to demonstrate the difference between push and pull production. Teams assemble paper cups and lids into a tray, inserting a straw into each cup, and discover key issues in a sequential assembly process.
